Violative Cause….
“To disturb rudely or improperly” …with… “good or sufficient reason”

Lenny Diko
Standing 6 feet 4 inches in height, with shoulders as broad as an eagle’s wingspan, Lenny Diko is as much of a giant in person as he is on the microphone. Born in Princeton, BC, Diko has been surrounded by musical influences throughout most of his life. He began experimenting with music at a young age, and has now become the CEO of one of the largest entertainment companies in Canada; Up In Your Basement Records. Though Big Diko thrives in all aspects of life as a businessman, he is an emcee at heart. Providing his listeners with heavy rhymes and a calm, slow flow, he is able to capture the hearts and ears of all his fans. Diko’s voice is similar to no other’s, and is easily identifiable on any song - something which has been lost in modern day Hip Hop. Lenny Diko is a very versatile emcee - he is able to outshine most competitors on a variety of beats, however prefers a smooth underground instrumental on which he easily can vibe to. Love him or hate him, he cannot be denied of his hustle and grind. Feared by some, and respected by all, Lenny Diko is one of Canada’s most threatening young artists. It is only a matter of time before the world will know his name.

Lex
Though he is merely a particle of dust when compared to Big Diko’s physical stature, Lex has managed to hold his own for years. Since the age of 12, Lex has been honing his craft as a lyricist, artist, and as a performer. Now at 19, he is ready to make his mark in the music industry. Using his quick-witted and excitable doubletime flow, Lex manages to enthrall his audience, however also is able to fall back onto a smooth, relaxed track. Born in Geneva, Switzerland, he has traveled the world many times over, providing him with a cultured perspective and background, which is clearly displayed within his lyrics. Being a key artist under Up In Your Basement Records, Lex’s energy has sent somewhat of a shockwave to emcees and producers in Vancouver. As he climbs the ladder of success in global Hip Hop, Lex has proven that he is a force to be reckoned with, both in the studio and live on stage.

The Two Emcees
Together these partners in rhyme form Violative Cause - a group which has gained notoriety not just in Canada, but also in Europe and throughout the rest of North America. Having released their debut album “Just Movement”, Violative Cause is getting ready to top the charts with production from Canadian heavyweights Moka Only (previously of Swollen Members) and Classified, as well as a wide range of DJ’s and producers. The lack of quality modern rap has awakened a beast in Vancouver - Violative Cause has risen as one of the most critically acclaimed duo’s in British Columbia, second to none when it comes to making good music. With features in media sources such as newspapers, radio shows, and the internet (most recently they were featured on the CBC Music website), coupled with their upcoming European tour, there is no stopping Lenny Diko and Lex. Each have opposite styles, and together produce a deadly one-two punch which is able to knock out any competitor in their way. Be on the look out for Violative Cause.

Redworm
Redworm has been creating music his whole life. As a kid he studied jazz violin and performed with his dad in the duo Swingamajig at international music festivals. Inspired by funky grooves and using eclectic instrumentation Redworm has turned his attention to banging out beats with up-and-coming rappers. Stay tuned for details on his debut rap compilation.

DJ Con
At age 18, with over 7 years of experience, DJ Con is the newest member of Violative Cause. He began scratching records at just 12 years old after being inspired by the late great Jam Master Jay of Run DMC. Soon after, he purchased his first set of turntables, a cheap Yamaha concoction, and from there he began to practice and develop a style of which he could eventually call his own. As a young teenager, DJ Con began entering online battles and competitions where he gained the experience needed for him to enter into the competitive local scene. He landed his first show at the Abbotsford Agri-Fair, where he met a local breakdancing crew. He spent the next few years with them performing at various festivals, concerts, and competitions. One year ago, Violative Cause and DJ Con were simply affiliates; Con set up shows for them in Mission, BC, his hometown, and over time he gradually became VC’s official connect in that region. After spending much time with the young DJ, Lenny Diko and Lex decided it would be in the group’s best interest if DJ Con were to join The Cause. In early January 2008, Violative Cause brought DJ Con along with them on the road as they performed shows in the Okanagan, BC, and it was there that he became an official member of the group. DJ Con appreciates a variety of musical genres, and is capable of spinning all types of audio. He DJ’s on a regular basis at all types of venues throughout the country, and is most fond of the Hip Hop culture. He has a fantastic work ethic and is great at what he does. DJ Con will no doubt help to push Violative Cause to bigger and better things in the near future.
